Reason Selected: St. Luis state park was closed and we wanted to visit the great sand dunes.
Setting: The Alamosa KOA is located only 3-4 miles from town. This gives you many options for restaurants and groceries or other shopping needs. It is also one of the closer campgrounds to the Great Sand Dunes National Park. It is the only campground we saw in the area which is not located close to the road and which offers trees. This area does not offer many trees.The park is run by several resident hosts, all of which are super friendly and helpful.
